Here you will learn how to determine the right size and design of solar cage for your solar system to ensure effective protection.
Step 1
determine the total length
For effective protection against martens and pigeons, all open sides of your photovoltaic system must be closed.
Use solar module dimensions: If you know the dimensions of a solar module, count the open sides of your system and add the total lengths. The exact dimensions can usually be found in the data sheet of your solar module.
Consider recesses: Close not only the sides towards the roof edge, but also all recesses, such as:
- skylight
- fireplaces
- antennas
- Other openings
This complete measurement ensures that your PV system is completely protected.
Step 2
Define height for the safety fence
Our solar cage rolls are 30 meters long as standard and are available in various heights to match the installation height of your mounting frame.
To measure the required height:
- Determine the measuring point: Measure the distance from the bead of the roof covering (e.g. roof tiles) to the top edge of the solar module.
- Measure in multiple places: Repeat the measurement in several places to take possible unevenness into account.
- Add 3 cm: Add 3 cm to the measured height to allow for a slight curve during installation.
A notice:
If the protective fence protrudes above the edge of the module frame, you can fold the excess down later to achieve a clean look.
Example:
In the example shown, the 20 cm variant would be ideal, as the measured installation height is within the recommended range.
Alternative to Step 2

If you cannot measure the exact installation height, use our recommendations based on the matrix below. Please note that these details are only general guidelines and do not apply in every case.
Matrix for the appropriate safety fence height:
15 cm variant:
Suitable for sheet metal roofs with low riveted brackets.
20 cm variant:
Ideal for all common mounting systems with roof hooks and hanger bolts and a mounting rail.
25 cm variant:
Recommended for high mounting frames such as:
- Two-layer mounting frames
- crossbars
- Very long hanger bolts
- Extra high mounting rails
A notice:
If possible, check the dimensions before ordering to make the best choice for your facility.
Step 3
Basic material of the protective fence
Galvanized steel wire is ideal for most applications. However, in special environments, the stainless steel version is recommended, as it is particularly resistant to corrosive influences.
Recommendations:
Galvanized steel wire:
Optimal for standard conditions and most solar systems.
stainless steel wire:
Recommended for more demanding environments such as:
- pig or cow stables (ammonia fumes)
- near the coast (salty air)
Important NOTE:
Both versions have a black, UV-resistant PVC coating and do not differ visually. In any case, you get a long-lasting and weather-resistant product.
Step 4
fastening material
Each complete solar cage set includes 80 J-hooks and 80 clamping washers made of high-quality stainless steel as standard. This fastening material ensures a stable and durable installation.

Standard modules:
The included J-hooks and clamps are suitable for most solar modules with regular frame designs. - C-clamps:
For solar modules with special frame designs – especially those that only have a square frame on the short side of the frame – additional C-clamps may be required. These ensure secure and precise fastening for specific module types.

Die Tauben sind von unter der PV-Anlage erfolgreich ausgesperrt, jetzt schon am 3. Haus mit gleichem System. Taugt vollumfänglich. Ist gut zu montieren, wenngleich natürlich anstrengend und mit ordentlich Muskelkater verbunden vom Festziehen der doch vielen Haken in gebückter Haltung. Man müsste das halt täglich machen und nicht nur einmal im Leben… - aber will man das :-)

Das Produkt macht genau was es verspricht. Mit ein bisschen Aufwand lässt sich der kleine mini Zaun sehr einfach rund um die PV-ANLAGE spannen. Die mitgelieferten Haken haben super funktioniert.
Seit dem sind die Tauben das Problem von den Nachbarn 😉.
Alles ok. Habe hochwertige Ware erhalten. Installation war super einfach. Im Nachgang noch einen netten Kontakt gehabt. Alles bestens und definitiv weiter zu empfehlen.
Sehr wirksames Tool gegen die Tauben, die unter rmeiner PV-Anlage genistet haben. Die Installation erfordert Zeit und Geschick.
Der Vogelschutz ist gut zu installieren, jedoch ist der Arbeitsaufwand je nach Lage der Panels nicht zu unterschätzen. Aber hinterher ist der Schutz kaum sichtbar und durch das umklappen sehr stabil. Einziges Manko war das anziehen der Befestigungshaken. Diese neigten gerne dazu sich ein wenig zu lösen, konnte aber mit ein bisschen Kraft wieder nachjustiert werden. Die telefonische Beratung war auch im Vorfeld sehr hilfreich und freundlich.

Mittels des Taubenschutzgitters "Solarkäfig" konnten wir im Herbst verhindern, dass die Tauben auch weiterhin unter unseren Solarpanelen brüten. Das Gitter ließ sich gut anpassen und ist trotzdem fest genug, so dass sich die Tauben keinen Zugang schaffen können. Und sie versuchen es!!! Da es die Ausführung in Edelstahl ist, ist auch nicht mit Korrosion zu rechnen. Also eine langlebige Lösung. Zwar haben die Tauben noch monatelang versucht unter die Solarpanelen zu gelangen, haben zum Teil in der Dachrinne ausgeharrt, konnten sich aber keinen Zugang mehr verschaffen und sind dann immer länger weggeblieben. Inzwischen ist es April und wir bekommen nur noch selten Taubenbesuch. Sie haben wohl aufgegeben. Insgesamt eine empfehelnswerte Lösung, aber bei höheren Dächern nicht ganz einfach zu montieren.
